T here is no magic bullet in dealing with the chronic relapse disease of addiction. The diversity and flexibility of our programs is an attempt to reduce the pain and suffering of our clients. Our programs are designed to help clients achieve improvements in every area of their lives, including relationships with family and loved ones. Our services employ evidence-based practices identified by research. We are building upon successful outcomes of others in the field and continue to make a unique difference for those we serve.Founded as Drinking Decisions in 1978, by Mary Ann Holser, Ph.D., in partnership with Lane County Council on Alcoholism, and co-founder Lisa Aumack, Ph.D., Prevention and Recovery Northwest (PARNW) was one of the first organizations in the country to offer treatment and rehabilitation services for those substance abusers and addicts involved in the corrections system. We were later renamed Prevention and Recovery Northwest, and have provided substance abuse prevention and addiction treatment programs for adults and youth since 1978 in the Eugene/Springfield area.
Our Outpatient Drug and Alcohol treatment programs encompass the early stage drinker as well as the chemically dependent or alcoholic whose condition does not require hospitalization or inpatient treatment. Our services have recently been expanded to include dual diagnosis services to individuals with both substance abuse and mental health needs.
Our Youth Program has provided services to over 5,000 students through a dozen local middle and high schools. Prevention and Recovery Northwest began its substance abuse prevention services with a Student Assistance Program in the fall of 1983. The SUCCESS Program was developed in 1991 to meet the intensive needs of middle school aged students at-risk for school failure and dropout, substance abuse and juvenile delinquency. We are members of the National Organization of Student Assistance Programs, and our counselors are members of the American Counseling Association.
